I spent the early years of my career providing mental health services in preschools and elementary schools. I am well-versed in treatment methods suited for children, and addressed a range of presenting problems including anxiety, depression, PTSD and other trauma, attachment issues, in addition to various behavioral difficulties. I worked with the children themselves, and provided consultation to teachers, school staff, and parents/caregivers.

As a therapist to many children throughout the years, I have spent countless time providing consultation on parenting issues. Additionally, parents need a unique and empathetic ear when handling the struggles that come along with raising children. Frequently parenting brings up issues from one's own childhood, which are deeper rooted beliefs and thought patterns that deserve attention and time.

I have lots of experience treating attachment issues, as they are responsible for many difficulties of day to day life. Disruptions in care of deeper difficulties with a parent/caregiver earlier in life can effect your attachment style, meaning that your first, pre-verbal experience of relationships shapes your understanding of relationships for the rest of your life. With me, we can practice how to form a healthy attachment which will inform partnerships in the rest of your life.

I used attachment theory as my main theoretical lens throughout my training and have continued to do so. I look back at your pre-verbal attachments formed with parents/caregivers to understand your relationship patterns, including your relationship with yourself, and all resulting core beliefs. With that understanding, I am better able to address those beliefs head-on in order to foster real change.

As a trained drama therapist, I have experience using other modalities that fall under the expressive art umbrella including, primarily, art therapy. My training positions me to use creative thinking to tailor any mode of artistic expression to fit therapeutic goals. So whatever you feel competent and confident in, be it visual art, music, theatre, or anything like cooking or crafting, we will be able to utilize it as a strength and go from there.

Similar to attachment theory, family systems shape our childhoods and give us experience playing certain roles early in life. These roles may or may not create difficulty later on, especially when you are faced with a need to be flexible and divert from your most comfortable role. We can merge family systems work and analysis with role playing and other embodied methods to help break free of the constraints that roles can force upon you.
