Well, hello! I'm an integrative therapist who brings compassion, creativity and a sense of humor to help you navigate life's doldrums.
Associate Marriage & Family Therapist in San Francisco, CA
Supervised by Sahar Dorani, PsyD
Integrative therapy incorporates aspects of different theoretical approaches in treatment, which is a fancy way of saying I use tools from multiple frameworks. I'm passionate about humanistic/existential therapy, attachment theory, and narrative therapy with a feminist lens. I also incorporate Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy [REBT], which is similar to CBT in examining the relationship between thoughts, emotions, and behavior.
I have specialized training in domestic violence and use a compassionate, non-victim-blaming approach to support survivors of DV on their healing journey. I view domestic violence as systemic oppression on the most individual level and have helped clients—mostly women of color from marginalized communities—cope with common emotional reactions to DV including sadness, shame, anger and frustration.
It's important to acknowledge the unique challenges women face in today's world. I've worked with clients on issues ranging from healing from domestic violence, grief and loss associated with abortion and miscarriage, and increasing self-esteem and self-compassion.
I aspire to help couples create shared values and meaning in their relationships and I particularly enjoy working with couples who come from different cultural backgrounds. I've helped couples increase healthy communication, improve intimacy and heal from infidelity. I wholeheartedly believe couples do not need to be in conflict to seek counseling, and I'm an advocate for premarital counseling to help client's navigate potential areas of conflict in their relationship.
