About My Clients
My clients are primarily women, LGBTQ+ folks, and partners who need support with managing anxiety or depression, healing from trauma or loss, navigating life transitions, or bolstering self-esteem. Many of my clients have experienced violence in an intimate relationship and seek therapy to make sense of their experience. I work with couples on a range of issues from increasing healthy communication, improving intimacy, and healing from infidelity, and I'm an advocate of premarital counseling.
My Background and Approach
As a feminist therapist (reading suggestion: bell hooks Feminism is for Everybody), I use a collaborative approach to help my clients discover their potential and reach their goals. I will appreciate your uniqueness and strive to create a therapy specifically tailored to your concerns. We may focus on the present and future with regards to your goals while exploring how your relationship history and childhood experiences have shaped your present self, beliefs and narratives. I'm an avid reader and love incorporating literature into therapy. My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I've lived in San Francisco's Castro District for 12+ years and I consider myself an ally to this amazing, welcoming community. Before embarking on my graduate school/therapist endeavor, I had the pleasure of volunteering at San Francisco Suicide Prevention's hotline for two years (and yes, I received many references to Armistead Maupin's Mary Ann from Tales of the City during this time). What I gladly took away from this experience is that suicidal ideation is more common than you'd believe—you are not alone and there is no shame in reaching out for support. While we live in a world of consumption, I believe we have some agency over our choices, and I'm always excited to discuss what's on your Netflix queue or bedside table.
