About My Clients

I specialize in helping individuals who are feeling stuck, overwhelmed and indecisive while lacking inspiration or a sense of direction. The basis for this work involves developing insight about your emotional needs and exploring the mind-body connection to tap into your intuition. As we focus on the building blocks of mindfulness and self-care, greater clarity and sense of purpose follows. Therapy is an open-ended process of exploration while coaching is short-term and goal-directed.

My Background and Approach

I became a therapist because I like hearing people's life stories and felt inspired to help others make positive changes in their lives. I've worked with a range of individuals, couples and families over the years and now work primarily with adult individuals. I incorporate CBT, Humanistic therapy, Positive Psychology and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction among other models. This means that we will explore information from both the mind and the body in our work together and that it's important for the process to be empathetic, collaborative, and focused on helping you move forward in life and really THRIVE. I recently added coaching services into my practice which is ideal for clients who prefer a short-term, goal-oriented approach to making changes. A coaching series begins with six sessions over three months and I offer email support in between sessions to keep you moving forward on your unique goals.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I grew up in a liberal family in a conservative Christian community in the Midwest. I now consider myself agnostic but have first-hand experience of Christianity from my upbringing. My community was dominantly white but supported refugee families and exchange students from around the world who became part of my network of friends and family. I attended therapy myself from a young age and understand the secrecy and shame that still exists for many around the idea of seeing a therapist. I believe strongly in social justice and equal rights for everyone and strive to continue educating myself on social issues including white privilege. My intention when working with clients is to remain open-minded and be curious about the person sitting in front of me without assuming to know what is true for another human based on my own experience.
