About My Clients
Maybe you have a lot of "special interests" but hesitate to talk about them because you think nobody else wants to hear it. Maybe you feel isolated, alone, or different from "normal people". Maybe sometimes, you just plain don't like who you are. Or maybe YOU like who you are - but you're not loving the lack of acceptance you get from other people. Or maybe you're so tangled up in expectations (other people's, your own, maybe both) that you barely KNOW who you are. I'm Megan. I'm here to help.
My Background
I earned both my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and my Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Cleveland State University in Cleveland, Ohio. I'm currently credentialed in the state of Ohio as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. I hold a certificate in Geek Cultural Competency from Geek Therapeutics, and am also credentialed as a Certified Geek Therapist. (Geek Therapy is the practice of using a therapy client's areas of special interest to make the process of therapy more relatable.) I got my training in person-centered counseling as part of my graduate program, and I've received specialized training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Narrative Therapy. I've also completed over 100 hours of formal training in improvisational theatre, about one-third of which is focused on using improv with clients in therapy.
