About My Clients
I do my best work with people 18 and older trying to improve the most important relationships there are--the ones with themselves and their romantic partners. This often looks like anxiety and depression individually, and feeling unable to communicate effectively in intimate relationships. I love using a mind/body/spirit approach to those open to it, always with the goal of helping people feel more confident, better able to set boundaries, and be more at peace in their own skin and homes.
My Background and Approach
I've been doing social services work for over 16 years. In that time, I've found that the most powerful tool that helps people trying to improve their lives is a supportive relationship. That's right, more than any specific therapeutic approach, I believe that the very relationship itself between client and therapist is what most benefits those seeking support. (For those looking for more technical terms, "supportive psychotherapy" best fits what I'm describing here.) That said, there are some specific modalities that I find helpful. Though I pull from an array of different approaches, I most often incorporate mindfulness, relational skill building, and energy work to help my clients build insight into what has them feeling stuck, and quickly start feeling unstuck. The specific modalities I offer are Advanced Integrative Therapy and Relational Life Therapy, both of which I have found personally transformative, and both of which I'm working toward certification in.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that therapy is a space in which people should feel free to be themselves, especially in a world in which bias pervails in so many areas. And to be honest, I signed up for TherapyDen upon receiving one of their emails that highlighted their commitment to being anti-racist, anti-sexist, anti-binaryist, anti-oppression in any form. I'm inspired to be part of a community that strives to be more inclusive in the provision of mental health services. Also, on a personal level, I am a mom, and this is one of my favorite roles! I love supporting other moms, namely those who are struggling with everything that comes with becoming one for the first time, balancing being a mom while also filling other roles, and managing parenting issues in your relationship.
