About My Clients
You're a resilient person coping with unique challenges. Maybe others have noticed that you're just not "you." Perhaps unhelpful coping mechanisms like drugs or alcohol help you get through the day. Sometimes nightmares, flashbacks, and a brain that won't "shut off" keep you up at night and you would do ANYTHING to sleep. Every coping strategy has helped you survive up until this point, but not all work long-term, and change can be terrifying. I'm here to help.
My Background and Approach
I'm a social worker and advanced alcohol and drug counselor. I use specialized skills that I have worked hard to fine tune and perfect, as well as tools developed from hours trainings so that I can help you conquer the life events that have left you feeling like someone you don’t know. I have extensive experience working with individuals who have survived trauma and substance use disorders. I embrace and affirm all sexualities, gender identities and expressions, racial and ethnic identities, and body sizes. I will meet you where you're at and help you achieve your goals for a brighter future.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone has the capacity to make positive changes. Trauma impacts our ability to cope, and I feel that most mental health issues develop as a result of living through and coping with something unbearable. What may feel doing everything "wrong," is in fact a demonstration of your amazing resilience and self-preservation. Because of this, I know that those suffering from mental health disorders are some of the most brave, resilient, and fierce individuals on the planet. Through my own struggles and journey, I have learned the value of human connection and meeting someone exactly where they are. I don't discriminate and want you to feel the same support and freedom of expression that I have come to know in my personal metamorphosis.
