About My Clients

Sometimes, folx are concerned that their therapist is going to make them lie on a couch while they say nondescript and cryptic things like "hmmm" and "I see" and "how does that make you feel?" While I do ask the last question, I can promise that my client work is not that of the 1920s. I serve clients from a multitude of backgrounds and lived experiences primarily related to navigating relationships of many styles, sexuality, gender identity, experiences of trauma, and anxiety.

My Background and Approach

I've spent 12 years of my career working with survivors of interpersonal violence (relationship violence, sexual violence, and stalking) in a number of capacities and am passionate about helping survivors of trauma to integrate and heal from harms committed against them. In addition and as part of the community, I have spent the last 7 years working intentionally with gender and sexually diverse communities to attain and maintain affirming senses of self, communities, and environments. I believe that my responsibility as your therapist is to travel with you on your journey, offer insight or observations, suggest solutions, and maintain a safe, comfortable, and nonjudgmental environment wherein you can explore all you want and need to explore to be the best version of you.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that every individual is the best expert on themselves; no matter how long we work together or how much time I've spent in school, I will never know you as well as you know yourself. I believe that the most impactful gift I bring to the therapeutic relationship is my humanity. I believe that healing happens in relationship which means my humanity isn't hidden from you. I believe that trauma-informed care is for everyone and centering intersectional communities is the path to remedying ourselves and our world. I believe that a good therapy session can include laughter, tears, silence, anger, and skill-building all in one. I believe that no human being is broken or inherently flawed. I don't believe that therapy is a method by which to *fix* anything but a safe space dedicated to helping you become whomsoever you wish to be.
