About My Clients
Healing can look and feel different for everyone. Whether you have experienced significant trauma, setbacks, loss, difficult relationships/attachment, parenting difficulties, anxiety, or depression; there has been an impact on the way you think, feel, and interact. These experiences shape and mold our understandings of the world and how we fit in it. If you are looking to create a healing centered path based in the connection between our mind and body, we may make a great team!
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (NY) that focuses on a bottom-up approach to therapy. What this means is, our brain stores our experiences in the brainstem....so that is where we have to start our treatment in order to move to the top with higher level thinking. Until we can learn to be present and regulated in our body, it’s impossible to truly process and heal from our experiences. I am trained in utilizing DBT, CBT, TFCBT, EMDR, PSB-CBT and pull from Dr. Bruce Perry, Paris Goodyear-Brown, Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, and Brene Brown. I utilize art therapy and talk therapy interventions as appropriate based on clients comfort, need, and preference. I have practiced in the field for 10 years and have partnered with children through adulthood in additional to parent support and family therapy. In addition to the experience listed, I am also trained in supporting sexual reactivity and sexual abuse in children and their families.
