About My Clients
In my online private practice I currently see individuals and couples and I have a few unique specialties: reducing feelings of overwhelm, perfectionism, or burnout and super commuters or road warriors and/or their spouses. I am a LGBTQIA+ ally and use she/her pronouns.
My Background and Approach
I feel that an important part of therapy is addressing the social, economic, and cultural influences on a person and that the process of therapy should be a collaborative one, with the client seen as the expert on their life. I started seeing clients in 2002 and have had the opportunity to work with a wide range of clients over the years. I love helping clients find tools to quiet the negative self-talk related to perfectionism and overwhelm. For the partner of a road warrior, I can help you navigate the unique challenges of this type of relationship. I have also supported many clients navigating the experience of living in Minnesota when they relocate from other states or countries. Life can be stressful and having a safe, non-judgmental place to explore worries, fears, and relationships is one way to reduce that stress. Finding a therapist that is a good fit is important as well.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Prior to starting my private practice, I worked in a diverse range of settings: a middle school, a community based mental health center in Los Angeles, a teen-to-teen hotline, a rage resolution and tattoo removal non-profit, and a program to train other community mental health professionals. I supported clients struggling with prior abuse, infidelity, self-harm, sexuality, the impact of marginalization and/or immigration status, and body image, as well as anxiety, depression, and anger. I continue to advocate for gender inclusion and anti-racist efforts in my local school district and beyond, and volunteer on a regular basis. I am a speaker and author and use these platforms to be a resource to the wider community. Whether this is your first time asking for help or you’ve met with a therapist before, I look forward to helping you work towards your goals and am happy to answer any questions you might have about the process.
