About My Clients
My clients are often people who are navigating anxiety, life challenges, and burnout but are unaware of how to begin shifting their mindsets. These people are thoughtful, honest, and determined to begin seeing life in a different light. If this sounds like you, I see us doing very good work together towards your goals.
My Background and Approach
For over three decades I have helped clients work through the highs and lows of their lives. I earned my master's degree in counseling at the University of Illinois, graduating with Phi Kappa Phi honors. Not only have I counseled in Illinois, but I also have experience practicing in Arizona and Texas via telehealth and in person. My approach to each encounter is evidence-based, including CBT, exposure-based work, strength-based strategies, evolutionary psychology, and mindfulness. It is important for my clients to know that they are not the problem that needs fixing but instead are equipped with nervous systems, routines, or patterns that may need direction or regulation. I use a warm and understanding style whole-heartedly, connecting with every client deeply.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My strongest belief is that change is most possible when curiosity, honesty, and courage to look beyond the surface are present. I want my clients to not only feel understood but also be challenged to dig deeper into their struggles. The question behind why people do what they do has always been a drive and heart of my work. Outside of counseling, however, I enjoy reading, particularly nonfiction books; listening to podcasts; traveling; and movement. I hold my relationships very close to my heart. I have been married to my husband, Phil, for 34 years and am the mother to two twin boys, Caiden and Connor. From my clients, family, and friendships, I learn daily that growth requires strength, trust, and, of course, humor!
