About My Clients
I treat children of all ages with a variety of presenting issues including anxiety, depression, and PTSD among other socio-emotional/ behavioral challenges. I use play to understand young children’s underlying needs. Unlike adults who talk their problems out to make sense of them, kids play their problems out. I also provide psychotherapy to teens and parents.
My Background and Approach
I've worked with children and families for over ten years using various therapeutic interventions. With young children, I utilize play therapy which creates the perfect environment for them to open up, learn and grow. With teens, I provide age appropriate talk therapy. I approach the work with creativity and I channel their interests to build a trusting relationship. I also provide psychotherapy to parents. I believe parents know their child best which means they are an integral part of their child's therapeutic process. Parent therapy can be used to share practical strategies or just a soft place to land when parents are overwhelmed.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I prioritize building authentic relationships characterized by trust and safety so the true work can begin. I believe that given the right environment, all individuals have the capacity for growth and change within them. It’s my job to help facilitate this growth by creating a healing environment and providing some additional tools and skills along the way. You are a good parent, your child is a good kid, and everyone requires a little extra help sometimes. That's where I come in.
