About My Clients

Are feelings of irritability, worry, sadness, or isolation getting in your way of enjoying life? Maybe how you were parented is influencing how you are parenting now and you seek to resolve these issues? Maybe you are a young adult trying to integrate various pieces of your identity in order to experience increased authenticity and genuine connection with others? Some issues I work with: - Anxiety - Identity development - Relational health - Postpartum mood changes - Pregnancy and fertility

My Background and Approach

I attended Boston College and earned my PhD in Counseling Psychology and MA in Mental Health Counseling. Central to working with me is authenticity. I strive to be transparent and hope to help you be confident in your own truth - whatever that may be. For many clients, the bulk of our work together is helping them discover who they really are, especially when you take away all the layers of "shoulds." By exposing your true self in the safe space of therapy, you gain the confidence and experience to go out into the world and form additional authentic connections. Together we can figure out how you want to navigate those boundaries. I have a special interest in working with parents. Many old relational patterns from our childhood resurface at this point in life. Learn to parent in the present rather than like your past. Parenthood is a huge new piece of your identity to integrate and forming authentic connection with your children can be different that previous relationships.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe in the healing power of authentic connection. As someone who was raised with many expectations and ideals, I appreciate how those societal pressures obscure our own vision of ourselves. I recognize the role of systemic oppression on individual mental health and passionately support racial and social justice. I am a military spouse and mother of two young children. And I am that lady with the kids at the march. I am affirming of all identities and commit to helping you integrate your cultural backgrounds, identities, and values. Because I think it is fair that you may want to have a sense of my hodgepodge self: I identify as first-generation Irish American, feminist, Catholic, liberal, military spouse, and mother. I have lived in New Jersey, Boston, Italy, Virginia, Maryland, and Hawaii. I love biking and craft projects. Punkin, a registered therapy dog, is by my side for almost all of my sessions.
