Accepting Clients

Hi, I'm Medha, a BIPOC immigrant woman offering reproductive mental health support to all adults in NJ.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New Jersey

About My Clients

Navigating the reproductive years isn't easy. Maybe you're experiencing infertility and undergoing treatment. Maybe you're pregnant or postpartum and discovering heightened anxiety. Perhaps this parenting thing doesn't feel like what they say in social media. Or maybe you've experienced a traumatic loss or birth. Whatever your journey, I'm here to offer support and relief. While I work with all adults, I specialize in working with folx of color, immigrants and underserved populations.

My Background and Approach

I'm trained as a trauma therapist with a Masters in Social Work from Rutgers University New Jersey and hold a certificate in Violence Against Women & Children. I am EMDR trained via the Touchstone Institute and have the Perinatal Mental Health certification (PMH-C) from Postpartum Support International. My approach is multi-modal and holistic, drawing from both my training and my culture as an Indian. I draw from elements of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), psychodynamic, insight-based and interpersonal psychotherapy as well as yoga mindfulness and tapping. I also particularly enjoy using EMDR, a form of trauma therapy that can drastically reduce disturbance and PTSD symptoms, such as those from a traumatic birth or loss. I have several years of experience working with parents who are survivors of interpersonal and gender-based violence. I offer culturally sensitive services in English, Hindi, Bengali and Urdu.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that clients are the experts in their own lives and my role is to support and motivate. I don't show or tell you what to do. I do model healthy behaviors and coping skills however! I believe in spectrums, not binaries, am allied with the LGBTQ++ community and welcome all ethnicities and faiths in my practice. I am also aligned with the Health at Every Size (HAES) approach and believe you are more than a number on a scale or a body shape. I believe in supporting, not shaming, and I am respectful and nonjudgmental.
