About My Clients
My approach to psychotherapy is evidence-based, compassionate, and tailored to your needs. I consider therapy a collaborative process and would love to work with you to create meaningful and lasting changes. While I am a generalist, I have particular expertise in the areas of trauma/PTSD, women's mental health/gender equity concerns, substance use, anxiety, depression, and OCD. I am committed to anti-racist practice, women's empowerment, and welcome clients from all backgrounds.
My Background and Approach
I earned my Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Western Michigan University in 2019. I also completed my doctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship within the VA Health Care System. Prior to moving into private practice, I was also involved in health service research, studying trauma-focused treatment implementation throughout the nation. I provide evidence-based, contextual behavioral therapies including acceptance and mindfulness-based interventions and trauma-focused treatments. I have specialized training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and the gold-standard treatments for PTSD, anxiety disorders, substance use, depression, and general mental health difficulties. As an intervention-oriented psychologist, my goal is to help you see results quickly and make improvements that last. I work together with my clients to provide the treatments that research says work and to help you function better now. If you are struggling, I may be able to help.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am committed to anti-racist practice, women's empowerment, and welcome clients from all backgrounds. I believe that Black Lives Matter and strive to be allied with the BIPOC community as well as the LGBTQIA+ communities. I also consider myself a body positive psychologist. During therapy, I welcome conversations related to diversity, equity, and inclusion including microaggressions that occur within and outside of the therapeutic context. I am particularly passionate about helping women and persons with marginalized identities to overcome systems of oppression that present in their daily lives and to live in a way that is fulfilling and in alignment with personal values.
