About My Clients
My role as a therapist is above all else to be a witness to your experience and my space is one where you should feel accepted, heard, and acknowledged. I work with individuals who are struggling in relationships, have experienced past traumatic experiences (including grief), and who experience day to day anxiety. Additionally, I love to work with those experiencing major life transitions (or contemplating them).
My Background and Approach
I have 15 years of post-graduate experience in the field of mental health and in a number of settings. My training after licensure has focused mostly in the areas of trauma/anxiety as well as perinatal mental health. My approach is somatic, which means I believe it's important to pay attention to how our emotions/feelings show up in our body. This is something I spend time with clients developing skills around as well. Additionally, I frequently utilize EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) as an affective tool to shifting how our past trauma impacts our present.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in our ability to connect to our inner wisdom and resilience. I know that learning ways to regulate our nervous system can bring profound change in how we show up in our daily lives. I am certain that the most important part of therapy is the relationship between therapist and client. It is through this that capacity for managing the challenges of life and deepening self-awareness occurs. Therapist is an important part of my identity, but I am also a spouse, a mother, and dog(s) owner. I love time spent with family, travel, road trips, being outdoors and reading.
