When we spend our time and energy caring for others, whether personally or professionally, we can experience feelings of overwhelm, exhaustion, and frustration. Making time for ourselves can feel like a luxury that we can't afford, even when we know that continuing to tread water isn't sustainable long term. I help individuals develop realistic and impactful self-care plans to support holistic well-being, so they can continue supporting those they care for, without compromising themselves.

When we use food as our primary way to soothe ourselves, it's not uncommon to feel stuck in a cycle of shame and guilt for the choices we make while also feeling unable to change them. By increasing clients' awareness of the underlying emotional pain that may drive them to eat and helping them enhance their ability to care for themselves without food, they learn to offer themselves compassion while acknowledging ways systemic oppression has shaped how society tends to define health and beauty.

Navigating life changes can be one of the most challenging experiences we have throughout life, whether these transitions are planned and intentional, or unexpected and out of our control. During these times, people often find their identities, communities, and/or resources shifting in ways that can feel unfamiliar and destabilizing. I support those I work with as accept the ups and downs of change, they clarify their vision for the future, and take steps to create a more intentional life.

There is an indisputable link between our mind and our body, so it makes sense that by becoming more aware of our body and how we can soothe it physically, we would experience changes to our mental state. I utilize breath work, body scans, sensory engagement, and visualization activities to help clients connect with their bodies and learn new ways to regulate their emotions through movement and awareness.

Our lives are full of opposing realities that seem to be in conflict, yet can be simultaneously true. I help my clients learn to accept these often uncomfortable feelings and situations and respond to themselves with more compassion. This is done through psycho-education, skills training, and self-monitoring.
