About My Clients
The families I work with are often exhausted by the time they find me — their child is shutting down, struggling in school, or carrying a weight they can’t name. I work with kids ages 5 through college navigating anxiety, ADHD, autism, learning differences, OCD, depression, and trauma. Many are finally ready to understand why things have been so hard. I’m here for all of it.
My Background and Approach
I’m Dr. McKinzie, a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Nationally Certified School Psychologist — a rare combination of clinical and educational training. I earned my PhD from the University of Missouri-Columbia and have contributed to published research in school psychology. I’m also a mom, which shapes how I show up for every family I work with. My approach is strength-based and grounded in evidence. I use CBT, ACT, DBT, and ERP for OCD — but what that looks like in practice is a warm, honest space where kids feel safe and parents feel like true partners. I don’t hand families a report and disappear. I stay in it with you. I’m licensed in MO and IL, PSYPACT-credentialed for telehealth across 42 states, and travel for testing when needed. My practice is proudly LGBTQIA+ affirming. I offer a free 15-minute consultation — let’s talk.
