There are many names for what you may be feeling when overwhelmed by work and life stress: vicarious trauma, secondary traumatic stress, compassion fatigue, burnout, etc. Our physical and mental systems are susceptible to maxing out when demands exceed capacity. You may be able to stretch yourself further, but are you able to do it well? This is the difference between your ability and your capacity. I look forward to making space to listen to what your bodymind needs to restore balance.
It would be easy to tell you to just be yourself. The reality is that there are systemic constraints which require many of us to navigate our identities based on what is called for in our environments. I want you to be free and I also want you to be protected. I enjoy helping clients process the reality of oppression while carving out space in their lives to further express themselves.
Dr. Howard Thurman addressed the "sound of the genuine" and Audre Lorde discussed the "power of the erotic". They explain that following your deepest desire is what will sustain you. I enjoy helping clients lean into deeper alignment of their values and their practices.
I enjoy helping clients increase awareness of their own emotions in order to drive healthier decision making and communication.
There is a wealth of knowledge in the bodymind. I enjoy assisting clients in coming into a greater intimacy with their own physical sensations and emotional experiences.
I enjoy helping clients process how they impact and are impacted by systems. Spanning ancestral, societal, interpersonal and intrapersonal contexts, we can discuss how you relate. I acknowledge that compassionate relationships to the whole comes with building capacity for accountability, boundaries and acknowledgement of power differentials.
