About My Clients
I take a relational approach and most of my clients are trans, neurodivergent, chronically ill, disabled, mad, experience suicidality, and are actively involved in challenging the oppressive forces that cause suffering. I work with sex workers, people whose work or identities are criminalized, folks who have PTSD, complex trauma, or intergenerational trauma. I love working with individuals, couples, polycules, families, and groups. My clients are kinky, non monogomous, and appreciate humor.
My Background and Approach
My approach is anti-oppressive, disability justice oriented, trans centered, and anti-carceral. I've worked in the mental health field for over 15 years doing crisis work, supporting people who are suicidal, working with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, doing wilderness therapy, and working with folks who are homeless. I take a harm reduction approach and respect client's autonomy. I got involved in this field through my own lived experience, and through organizing around radical mental health support. I share many overlapping identities with my clients and am neurodivergent, chronically ill, queer, and anti-zionist. I believe that therapy is inherently political, and don't think it's possible to address any individual's mental health without also addressing the larger sociopolitical landscape. This also means being actively engaged in anti-racist work, challenging ableism, and commiting to lifelong learning so that my clients have competent care.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that being unable to adjust to a deeply unwell society is a sign of humanity, not sickness. I believe in mutual aid and working class solidarity. I believe billionares shouldn't exist, genocide should be fought by any means necessary, and that all human beings should have food, housing, and their basic needs met. I believe in the landback movement, in reparations, in chosen family and trans joy. I believe in rest and repair, that conflict isn't something to be avoided, and that a better world is possible.
