My expertise is helping people and relationships heal from difficult experiences with a direct, kind approach.
Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in Fairfax, VA
I am a trained couple's therapist and have expertise in helping guide couples through the overwhelming process of managing post-affair communication, decision making, boundary setting, and ideally healing. While there is no 'right way' to navigate this chapter, I have helped many couple's determine the best path for them.
I help couples and families create a safe approach to managing difficult conversations. Whether you tend to be arguers or avoiders (or some of both) we can create a plan and common language to work through heated topics, avoided hot buttons, and past hurt that has occurred in conflict.
Sometimes the symptoms of PTSD are hard to identify, whereas others are intrusive and life altering. If you have questions about the impact of a significant traumatic event or are trying to work through the impact of a difficult childhood, unhealthy relationship, or difficult loss I can help determine a path forward.
I am certified in EMDR and receive ongoing training and consultation to treat single-incident trauma, intergenerational trauma, childhood trauma, abuse, sexual assault, and domestic violence. EMDR can also be used to treat substance dependence, compulsive behavior, and phobias.
Attachement Theory is my basis for treating couples and families in creating healthy, safe connections and realtionships.
I work with couple's around a variety of issues including premarital, sex/intimacy, communication, conflict management, affair recovery, discernment, coparenting, and life transitions. I help couples who prefer a direct, clear approach to improve their relationship outside of the therapy room.
CBT is a versatile approach to learning to improve communicaion, manage your mood, change unhealthy patterns of behavior, and learn tools to make healthy transitions.
