About My Clients

My goal is for you to feel empowered to live the life you want. I want to help you achieve self-mastery by overcoming your anxiety, depression, trauma, reactivity, self-doubt, or whatever is holding you back. My only requirement to work together is that you are ready to find the healing you need within yourself.

My Background and Approach

I was trained in holistic primary care. That means I can address a wide range of health concerns with the underlying philosophy that you are a complete being, not a lab value or a disease pathway. It also means that I have a large selection of tools to choose from including herbs, nutrition, bodywork, lifestyle counseling, and pharmaceuticals. After graduating I completed a residency in integrative mental health which has remained my clinical focus ever since. I also completed a Master's in medical research. I published two papers in peer-reviewed medical journals, one on mindfulness and the other on empathy and burnout in medical students. I believe in using the best evidence available to guide clinical decision making. My approach always starts with a complete health history and screening for potential physiological causes for your concerns. I often do bloodwork and genetic testing. Starting with the gentlest therapy first, we then get to work.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

In any therapeutic relationship, it is important to offer a non-judgmental environment and unconditional positive regard. In short, this means that you will be accepted just the way you are. Though I am a cis-gendered, heterosexual male, I have experience working with the LGBTQ community and am body-positive, sex-positive, and social justice-oriented. While I come from a conservative, Christian upbringing and am comfortable working with patients from that background, I am also fluent in the language of science and atheism, while personally embracing a non-theistic spiritual worldview. I am happy to work within whatever paradigm you come from. My counseling techniques are influenced by Buddhist and western psychology, my experience in the ManKind Project, meditation coaching, Motivational Interviewing, Hakomi (mindfulness-based somatic psychotherapy), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. I'm also an athlete and can offer sports medicine guidance.
