About My Clients
You are motivated to grow but feel stuck in cycles of low energy, procrastination, or self-doubt — and who resonate with music as a way to re-energize and find direction.
My Background and Approach
I approach work humanistically and existentially with an emphasis on DBT if we need to collaborate in a more skill-based model. Of course, I use music as the primary tool of change in our sessions. This does NOT mean you have to be a musician or know ANYTHING about music! Music psychotherapy is for everyone—it is simply talk therapy with music as the agent of change. In our sessions you can expect to listen to music for relaxation or motivation, learn how to build iso playlists to help with mood change, share feelings and emotions through music and lyric analysis, and possibly even collaborate in songwriting. Our work together is tailored to your needs and goals, and the music we use is built around your preferences.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I identify as Jewish, but I am definitely more spiritual than religious. I am an active member of the LGBTQIA+ community and am extremely proud to have started the Rockland Pride Chorus, which is a free community chorus open to all members of the LGBTQIA+ community. In my "prior career" I was music director for the Groundlings Theatre & School in Los Angeles, so I always try to bring humor to my work—I truly find that growth is most effective if you are able to occasionally laugh at life.
