About My Clients
Life is full of challenges which can be overwhelming at times. It takes courage and strength to reach out and allow yourself to be vulnerable and to share your inner most thoughts, feelings and experiences. I am here to offer support, guidance and encouragement as we explore together whatever you are facing in your life. I find that when we allow ourselves to be “In the state of possibility!” that the door to change and transformation is open.
My Background and Approach
I am a LCSW-C in Maryland and earned a Master of Social Work from The University of Michigan, School of Social Work. I also have a Master of Applied Healing Arts from the Maryland University of Integrative Health. I have worked with women and children in a domestic violence program, a sexual abuse treatment center, a general counseling center and at a special education setting. I am a trauma informed therapist who specializes in working with children, adolescents and adults experiencing a wide range of situational stressors, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and grief/loss. I provide individual, couple and group therapy sessions and use a variety of therapy models including person centered, solution focused, psychodynamic approaches, as well as using, strength and evidenced-based practices including, Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), mind body connection, meditation and wellness practices, problem solving skills, and coping strategies for emotional regulation.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am dedicated, empathic, culturally sensitive, and passionate in partnering and collaborating with people to make meaningful changes, by honoring their strengths and inner wisdom and providing a safe space to share concerns, challenges and experiences. I individualize my approach to meet client’s needs and promote conversation and dialogue that enhances possibilities of everyday living. I bring creativity, curiosity, humor and compassion into the therapeutic relationship and believe in the power of positive thinking, gratitude, and designing daily practices that promote grounding, deep listening, partnership, and effective action. I believe in the power to change and openness to possibility no matter how young or old we grow. I am a supporter of the Black Lives Matter and the LGBTQ+ community. I have marched in a number of demonstrations in Washington, DC and in Baltimore. I am an animal lover, enjoy spending time in nature and making art.
