About My Clients
Have you or a loved one been diagnosed with cancer or another life-altering ailment? Are you grieving for someone who died from such an ailment? These moments of life can be terrifying and isolating. I would be honored to walk alongside you in this journey and help you accept, grieve, and take back control of the next phase of your life.
My Background and Approach
I worked in an oncology nonprofit for 6 years providing individual counseling and running support groups. The first step is for you to feel heard--truly heard--in your darkest hour. I hope to hold space for you as you process things that have happened or are happening to you. From there, we will collaborate on the best next steps, whether those steps be tangential, confronting yourself and your environment, or accepting what is. A successful intervention should decrease feelings of distress and increase feelings of control.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am not just a mental health worker, but a social worker: I consider environmental and societal factors to be just as important as what goes on inside one's mind. Having access to things we all need such as housing, food, healthcare, and social opportunities greatly influence one's mental health. Societal oppressions and forms of discrimination should be addressed alongside the individual concerns. My counseling "room" is a safe space for people of all races, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, religious beliefs, levels of ability, ages, and national origins.
