About My Clients
Has your child or preteen experienced difficult times like a change/loss in the family, traumatic event, or a chronic illness? Maybe you've noticed a change in their mood, challenges with expressing emotions, or acting in ways that you're struggling to understand? Providing your child a safe space in therapy where they can freely express themselves, explore their feelings, and communicate in their own language can help. I am available in-person on the weekends!
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in supporting children and families experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, grief/loss, and chronic illness. Using both directive and non-directive play therapy approaches, I am passionate about creating space for children to freely communicate, heal, and grow in their own unique way. I also enjoy supporting parents in understanding the "why" behind what they may be seeing as a caregiver, while developing skills to be present with their child through challenging times. I have received training in several trauma-based modalities (TF-CBT, ARC), play therapy, sandtray therapy, AutPlay, and pediatric palliative care. I am actively continuing training and supervision to become a Registered Play Therapist.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a social worker, I am specially trained to consider each person within their unique environment, and identify how trauma, oppression, and systemic injustice affects each person. This includes acknowledging/challenging oppressive systems and helping address the pain felt by marginalized individuals and communities. I highly value building safe, affirming, and non-judgmental therapeutic relationships. Each part of your identity is important, valued, and affirmed in our space. I wholly believe that you are the expert on your own life experiences. It is my privilege to get to hold space for your story.
