About My Clients
Clients most often come to therapy with me to address complexity in relationships with others; to have a safe space to explore identity; coping with intense or overwhelming feelings; and grief/loss. I consider myself a jack-of-many-trades, so I'm open to discussing whether I'd be the right fit for anything you may bring.
My Background and Approach
My approaches to therapy draw from Gestalt therapy, relational-cultural therapy, intersectional feminism, harm reduction, internal family systems, somatic interventions, and DBT. I see healing and growth as not just individual but community and relational processes. My orientation to approaching suffering, healing, growth, and psych is not rooted in a model of pathology. I believe the body's response to trauma or suffering can take many different forms and even "harmful" thoughts, feelings, or behaviors have come to serve a purpose. With support, we can intuitively move towards growth, wholeness, and connection. I come to sessions with curiosity, care, and gentleness; as well as directness and practicality. I can also be lighthearted in sessions, with humor, laughter, playfulness, and creativity in how I show up.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
The lens I bring into our space, and the lens/experiences you bring, as well as our environment, shapes our work together. I am committed to attending to how different systems affect you, me, and our work. I'm both a serious and silly person. I love being in nature, Star Trek, board games, making art, making bad puns, and petting cats.
