About My Clients
I see clients across the lifespan. I have a passion for helping and work extensively with anxiety and anxiety-related concerns (including helping get "unstuck"), stress and trauma. Working collaboratively and empathically and using humor in the process is important. My approach is holistic, compassionate and client-centered; I meet you where you are at. I provide support and encouragement to create more functional behavioral patterns, helping you identify your strengths and coping skills.
My Background and Approach
I use a psychodynamic approach, including CBT (and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), solution-focused therapy, DBT, parenting groups and family system dynamics, attachment theory, mindfulness for stress reduction and motivational interviewing. I recognize the importance of the mind-body connection. My style is to create a safe place for you to experience vulnerabilities while sharing your stories. I work with adolescents and adults, families and couples with concerns related to anxiety, trauma, self-esteem, attention deficit, chronic medical issues, depression, emotional dysregulation, grief and loss, separation/divorce and foster care/adoption. I focus on building self-worth and coping skills and enjoy working with diverse populations. I can be directive at times and introduce problem solving techniques if you find that helpful. I am known for being encouraging and motivating; you will find that I have a non-judgmental and caring manner.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that people can change and grow. I enjoy working with children, adolescents, adults and am affirming to people from diverse populations. I support LGBTQIA clients.
