Medication management services at CEH are delivered by licensed, board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs). Our PMHNPs are advanced practice registered nurses with graduate-level training in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and medication management across the lifespan and specialized training in the evidence-based pharmacologic treatment of anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and related disorders, trauma disorders, mood disorders, and more.

At The Center for Emotional Health (CEH), we provide evidence-based treatment to help individuals manage OCD effectively. Our specialized approach includes: Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT) To enhance treatment, our clinicians may incorporate principles of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). CBT is one of the most well-researched and effective approaches in psychotherapy. It's based on the idea that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all connected — and that by identifying and shifting unhelpful thinking patterns, we can create real change in how we feel and act. In session, this might look like learning to recognize distorted or unhelpful thoughts, testing them against reality, and building new skills and habits that support the changes you're working toward.

ERP is the gold-standard treatment for OCD and anxiety disorders. It involves gradually facing feared thoughts, images, or situations while resisting the urge to perform compulsions or avoidance behaviors. Over time, this teaches your brain and body that anxiety naturally decreases without needing rituals to "fix" it. ERP is done collaboratively and at a manageable pace — building confidence and tolerance for uncertainty, not overwhelm.

CBT is one of the most well-researched and effective approaches in psychotherapy. Instead of fighting internal experiences, you learn to make room for them while taking action guided by your values. Core skills include mindfulness, cognitive defusion, and values clarification. The goal isn't feeling better in the moment — it's building a rich, meaningful life even alongside discomfort.
