About My Clients
You and I might be a good fit if you are willing to: move beyond your comfort zone, experience unpleasant feelings and sensations, and hear challenging feedback and incorporate it into improving your lifestyle and circumstances. I enjoy trying to identify any barriers you have to living your best life and try to get creative in helping you learn how to overcome them.
My Background and Approach
After serving in the US Army, I earned my Bachelor's, then Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I worked in a psychiatric care hospital and a residential unit for teens, which was challenging and rewarding. In Wisconsin, I worked in both residential and outpatient programs for Rawhide Youth Services for 5 years before starting my private practice. My approach to therapy is laid back and informal, I try to simplify explanations so everyone can understand therapy and ensure that there is clarity and consent in treatment. I use my personal experiences with mental health to strengthen our therapeutic relationship and I believe in equipping you with the knowledge and tools to use throughout your life to overcome the many behavioral and emotional challenges life throws at us. I'm in this with you and invested in your growth as well as prioritizing your emotional wellbeing.
