My Background and Approach

I can be your companion as you navigate life's many challenges. Therapy is a warm, nonjudgemental space where you can recover from mental health challenges, build self-esteem, move past anxiety, and create healthy habits so you can live a more fulfilling life. We can work on understanding relational dynamics and how they impact you. We can also practice mindfulness techniques to reduce stress and reframe internalized messages that have been holding you back. Trauma may surface during our work together, which is a normal and productive piece of the therapeutic process. In fact, I believe the exploration of trauma will benefit in reaching your goals, bringing more clarity, direction, and enhancing self-awareness. My values for social justice inform my approach to empowering your personal wisdom as we work to reach your goals and allow room for flexibility in tailoring therapy to create a unique space.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My role as a social worker is heavily influenced by my identity as a queer psychotherapist and my research interests in intimate partner violence among transgender and gender-nonconforming as well as other sexual minorities. This has deepened my knowledge of diverse gender-sexual experiences and those facing challenges in their intimate relationships. Walking through the world queer can be a challenge and a source of strength. When we choose to heal from trauma that is born out of situations encountered on our journey, we fortify our resilience. As we collectively heal, we uphold a position of strength that envelops us and permeates outward. At my core, I value leading with compassion, speaking truth to power, and embodying self-love in all its many ways. You can expect LGBTQIA+-affirming therapy. Therapy through a queer lens means that I am more able to bring new perspectives (for straight folks too!) and we can think outside the box to deliver the support that you need.
