About My Clients
My clients are usually the capable ones: professionals who hit every milestone and feel flat anyway, couples repeating a fight they can both name, and queer, polyamorous, and kink-identifying people who are done educating their therapists. What they share is a wall that hasn't moved, and a growing suspicion that understanding it won't be enough on its own. They're right. We work on what comes after understanding.
How I Can Help You
Before becoming a therapist I spent years in tech, startups, and the arts, so I know the achiever's world from the inside. I trained at Golden Gate University (MA in Counseling Psychology, Highest Honors), with clinical training at the Pacific Center for Human Growth serving LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities, and at the Center for Mindful Psychotherapy. I draw on attachment theory (DMM), narrative therapy, parts work (IFS), EMDR, and Gottman couples methods. Early on we trace where your patterns came from and what they've been protecting you from. Then we practice new responses, in session and in your real life, until they hold.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe everyone can live meaningful lives. I help clients make positive changes in their lives whether they have relationship problems, feel overwhelmed with emotions, or just feel something isn't right. I don't think just identifying symptoms is enough to fix it. I also don't think that all problems are just inside a person and they need to face those problems alone. Our struggles and who we are come from a complex interaction between our experiences, our relationships, society, and culture. Healing begins by understanding how harmful things have hurt us, how old behavior patterns lock us in, and realizing that we are not defined by what others have said about us in the past. Healing lasts by changing behavior and acting on new insights.
