About My Clients

The clients who frequent my practice come with varied concerns. While some clients' treatment are centered around a specific mental health condition such as a mood and affective disorder, social anxiety, panic disorder, binge eating, somatic pain, other clients might need help sorting through life and career transitions, ending a relationship or visiting family for the holidays. I work primarily with individuals and provide some couples therapy on a limited basis.

My Background and Approach

My educational background includes Political Science, Psychology and social work. Following my graduate studies, I attended professional training at the Washington School of Psychiatry. I'm licensed in Maryland and the District of Columbia. I support both men and women of color trying to navigate mental health and therapy. Clients who are looking to integrate more adaptive coping skills, feel better about themselves or reframe their self-talk will benefit highly from my integrative style. I am a trained Brainspotting therapist. I have experience and training in Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy, mindfulness, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, Solution focused therapy (brief) and attachment based therapy with emphasis on the impact of generational, environmental and racial trauma.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that struggle is part of the human condition and mental health shows up for every person differently. I make a clear distinction between a diagnosis/struggle and the person because there isn't a limit to any one person's capacity. My commitment to mental health intersects with my beliefs on social justice and equality. Every client is treated with courtesy and respect in a safe place where they get to be free spirits. I love helping men and women of color navigate mental health and defy the mental health stigmas often present within certain ethnic groups. Much of the way I practice highlights social disparities and its impact on mental health. I have joined forces with other therapists in our practice to develop a "Reading and Management" #RAM project as a way to incorporate reading into treatment as both a coping strategy and learning opportunity for marginalized groups.
