About My Clients
My specialty is working with adult individuals and couples dealing with relationship issues rooted in trauma; mostly dealing with anxiety, depression, grief, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), childhood trauma, domestic violence and sexual assault. Clients that typically form a strong connection with me are other therapists, their partners, individuals in the LGBTQ community, immigrants and adult children of immigrants (25-60 y/o).
My Background and Approach
I received a Bachelor's Degree in Criminology from University of California, Irvine which led to my advocacy work for victims of crime where I realized I wanted to become a therapist specialized in trauma in order to help people heal to thrive in their relationships. I received my Master's Degree in Marriage & Family Therapy from Alliant International University. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Brainspotting (BSP) and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), all evidence-based therapy modalities. My approach is holistic, culturally sensitive and trauma informed through a social justice lens. I incorporate Energy Psychology, such as mindfulness, Reiki, Pranic Healing and spirituality into the work with clients that are open to it.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe connection and healing must first be experienced within ourselves in order for us to experience it with others. To be fully connected means to have awareness of ourselves at the levels of the mind, body and soul and understand how our background and experiences have informed the relationship we've formed with every part of ourselves, so that we may take an account of our strengths, hurts and losses in order to truly heal. I am committed to my own healing and believe that in order to be a good clinician I have to continue doing my own work. My clinical and energy healing training reflects all that I have found helpful in my own healing journey. I am an Arhatic Yogi, I meditate regularly and believe meditation plays an essential part in staying connected with my higher soul, this is why I love guiding clients in meditation. I believe therapy should be a space where we find safety and freedom to express all that we normally repress and explore all aspects of ourselves.
