Marissa Nickel (she/her)

I provide mindful, compassionate, and strengths-based counseling support intended to arouse empowerment in those who seek to find hope through healing. I believe a strong therapeutic alliance and personal motivation are the most powerful agents for change, growth, healing, and self-improvement. I strive to meet my clients wherever they may be in their lives, providing clinical tools to assist them in achieving their identified treatment goals. I focus on maintaining a safe space physically, psychologically, emotionally, and spiritually where clients feel comfortable facing their challenges and exploring their heartfelt desires. My focus is on the development of a strong therapeutic alliance, as I believe that by fostering a trusting relationship, personal growth is achieved and emotional awareness is obtained. I'm invested in empowering clients by way of providing validation, compassion, emotional support, empathy, and psychoeducation. We must feel to heal.

I believe firmly that everyone is capable of change and growth at any point in their lives. I recognize that unlearning is an integral component of the therapy process. I believe in meeting peole where they are, and I see the client as the expert on their life and their story. I am also a therapist who sees a therapist, and I am very open about this with my clients. As a social worker, I strongly support a person's right to self-determination. I do not discriminate against anyone, and I participate actively in my community in the form of advocacy to support causes related to the BIPOC and LBGTQ communities. I am also a steward of public health and support bodily autonomy. Additionally, I am a member of the adjunct faculty for the graduate college at Boise State University, and I teach clinically relevant courses for the School of Social Work.
