My Background and Approach
I hold a Master of Divinity and a Master of Social Work, a pairing that means your care can hold both the clinical dimensions of your life and the deeper questions of meaning, purpose, and identity. My training spans trauma-informed care, biopsychosocial-spiritual assessment, and chaplaincy with people in crisis, so you get a therapist comfortable sitting with pain, grief, and loss of direction alike. Before the therapy room, I spent years in community work rebuilding self-worth alongside people facing poverty and homelessness; I bring that same grounded, unhurried presence to our sessions. My approach is existential-humanistic and biocultural: your beliefs, body, history, and community are treated as one connected story, not separate problems. We ease symptoms with evidence-based methods like CBT, ACT, Narrative Therapy, and somatic work, while drawing on Indigenous and African psychology to honor your own traditions. My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I came to this work from lived experience. I grew up in poverty, spent time as a homeless youth and foster child, and watched communities I loved carry weight they never chose. Those years shaped what I believe: that healing is not a luxury, that dignity is not earned, and that no one should have to prove their worth to receive care. Before becoming a counselor, I fed the homeless, built community initiatives, and served as a chaplain to people in crisis. I founded a community organization committed to connecting individual wellbeing with the wellbeing of our communities, and that mission still guides my practice, from sliding scale fees to the way I sit with each person. I stand with racial justice, with LGBTQ+ and trans communities, and with people of every faith and no faith. I draw inspiration from liberation psychology and thinkers who insist that mental health cannot be separated from justice.
