About My Clients
Over the course of forty years I have been honored to work with people of all ages; most races and ethnicities; most diagnostic and problem areas; most sexual preferences and gender identities; and a wide variety of motivational levels. It is common for people to be struggling with relationships; change; transitions & trauma. Most benefit by learning to recognize & verbalize thoughts feelings & fantasies, putting them into appropriate language & inhibiting inappropriate behavior & language.
My Background and Approach
My original training was psychoanalytically oriented. Then I segued into Humanistic Therapy, Behavoral Therapy and Modern Analytic Therapy. This seemed to contain the best of everything. My goal is to help people “say everything”. All the better if that can be done with some humor, and perhaps a little fun now and then. I’m not big on diagnosing, I am more focused on establishing a therapeutic relationship and meeting goals. I have four degrees (BA in Psychology, BSW, MA Psychology, MSW) and tons of life experience. I have learned an enormous amount from the people I have worked with and am able to pass that along to the people I have worked with later on. I have training in Advanced Issues in Adoption and am knowledgeable about Open Adoption and Search an Reunion Issues. I am also trained and experienced in Blended families and Foster Care Issues. I am pretty non-judgemental by nature and by training. I do not “tolerate” personal differences, I celebrate them.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in clear, open, and honest communication. I celebrate individuality and individual differences. I believe in the value of and right to dignity odor everyone regardless of age; race; sexual or gender differences; ehnicity, race or religion.
