About My Clients
My clients are persons from historically marginalized backgrounds (BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+) and their allies and accomplices in the journey toward liberation from systems of oppression. As therapist of color, I understand that marginalized communities face challenges that are not rooted in some kind of innate dysfunction, but in historical, generational, and social contexts, that often show up as symptoms such as an anxiety, depression, and chronic trauma responses.
My Background and Approach
I work via a trauma-informed lens to help you find your way toward reconnection with the highest, wisest, part of yourself . We will look at how past experiences can leave us with negative beliefs about ourselves, the world, and our relationships. The aim is to tend the wounds of the past and allow the healing journey to bring new meaning to our lives. I am trained in EMDR, Compassionate Inquiry, and work from an Internal Family Systems lens. I have a personal path as a student of Indigenous ways of knowing and healing and can bring this into the space for those that resonate with it. I also enjoy taking a transpersonal approach and tying in each person's individual or collective spiritual belief systems into the therapeutic process.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a liberation-focused therapist, I understand that the larger frameworks we are a part of in colonial capitalism, impact our health and wellness and this, too, informs a large part of my work and worldview. I am the founder Liberation Pathways, a BIPOC-led nonprofit in Oregon aimed at creating land-based healing spaces for historically marginalized communities and allies. I believe that most of our struggles as individuals and as a species are rooted in disconnection from the land, from larger spiritual systems, and from community (village). I am social justice and environmental justice advocate and activist and work daily toward reconnection as the doorway toward healing and liberation.
