About My Clients
Are you often uneasy in social situations? Nervous about what you want to do with your future? Generally feeling on edge? It's usually not a fun time feeling anxious. These are areas we can work on together to build your confidence and resiliency. I'm excited to potentially have the opportunity to teach you some of the skills that have been most helpful in my practice.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York State. I completed my Bachelor's in Psychology at Le Moyne College and my Master's in Mental Health Counseling through SUNY Oswego. I have experience working with clients ranging from children to older adults in outpatient and school-based settings. My most recent experience has been with adolescents and young adults throughout the many transitions COVID-19 brought about for everyone, in addition to the everyday stressors and difficulties in high school and into college. I recognize that everyone lives a different life with their own set of challenges and experiences that impact their mental health and perspective. Because of that, I use a person-centered approach meeting people where they are at in life and assisting them along the way through their difficulties and stressors. We will work to identify individual strengths and personalized coping techniques that can be used easily and effectively in real-life situations.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that we all need "me time" to do what we like and I also believe in priorities, accountability, and responsibilities. I believe in assertiveness and boundaries and I also believe in empathy and compassion for others. I believe that my dogs are my "children" and That's just that, there's no contradicting that one. I believe that everyone has a story to be told with their own voice; from their perspective. Everyone has their own struggles, stressors, and experiences. None of us experience the same life and even the same incident can affect people in a variety of ways. Your experiences and feelings are valid even if people around you may not agree. My goal is for my clients to feel heard, understood, and prepared to face their daily struggles confidently. I believe it is important for us all to be heard and recognized and also to be successful, social, and living a life we enjoy. If you're interested, send me a message!
