About My Clients

I enjoy working with people who experience anxiety and self-doubt and who are undergoing a life transition or active identity development. I spend a lot of time questioning fat phobia, homophobia, racism, and other internalized prejudices, so we may work well together if you want to question the status quo and find mindful and loving ways to approach your own growth. I guarantee you that my own growth is ongoing, which means I don't have all the answers but I will help you find some of your own.

My Background and Approach

I have worked in non-profit community mental health for the past five years, where I have built my capacity to support people through a wide range of experiences. I also work at a college counseling center, where I receive ongoing training and support. Now I am looking to hone in my experiences and interests, especially by working with people who want to engage with social justice issues. I am driven by relational-cultural therapy approaches with a feminist lens, and I am particularly interested in how identity and autonomy are impacted by the social structures around us. I use mindfulness (more than just breathing and meditation, although that will likely be a part of it) in sessions to help people build skills to cope with the injustices they face and feel more empowered and equipped to take action where desired. I am very patient--I will work at your pace and take the time to develop a space with you that feels safe and respectful.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Mental health has everything to do with our contexts and how our inner selves interact with our body and the world around us. I am particularly interested in the topic of embodiment through considering how our relationship to our bodies are impacted by gender identity, gender expression, sexuality, body size, and race. I also believe that being involved in a supportive community of people (and plants & animals) where you feel seen is a huge component of a fulfilling life. Personally, I am a genderfluid panromantic woman. I full-heartedly encourage people to get creative and to consider what actually works in a relationship by questioning the origins of their beliefs about how relationships "should be." I believe that "believing in the binary," or that there are only two categories of being, is a cognitive distortion (i.e. all-or-nothing thinking) and that it is so much more fun to exist on spectrums.
