Often people seek therapy when they feel distress, hopelessness, or feel overwhelmed due to a particular event which is occurring. Sometimes one feels unhappy, stressed, isolated, unable to focus, or acts in a way which interferes with the enjoyment of their daily life but it’s unclear as to what's causing this. Together we will work to understand and overcome the obstacles which are interfering with your quality of live.
My Background and Approach
I specialize in working with people who are experiencing life transitions, such as marriage, divorce, parenting, career, loss of a loved one, aging, and existential anxiety. Transitions can be stressful because it means you need to make changes in how you are living your life. I work with people who are at a crossroads of important decisions or who are having difficulties navigating and adjusting to a change in life circumstances. Going in a direction you have not gone before can bring up feelings of fear, doubt, and uncertainty. If you are trying to figure out what you want from your life, I will provide a safe and nonjudgmental place where we can explore your emotions, challenges, choices and possible consequences, and best approaches to move forward. Going through the process of taking stock of your life can often lead you to a new beginning which opens up new possibilities.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am Hispanic and am familiar with the Hispanic, Latinx cultures. As an immigrant, I can also understand many of the issues which arise in terms of immigration and assimilation. I have worked with the LBGTQ community and provided individual and couples therapy to gay and lesbian individuals. In addition to my clinical work, I have worked in the corporate world for many years. I feel this experience has given me first hand knowledge which enables me to understand the challenges and demands that people working in this environment experience.
