Accepting Clients

Above all else, I am a therapist because I am curious about people, how we move in the world and how we can be better together.

Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in Portland, OR

About My Clients

I specialize in working with queer and trans people, pot-stirrers, and outsiders. I enjoy working with people who are confronting major identity shifts, people who are navigating issues with their families of origin, and people who are trying to envision a future they never imagined themselves in (What is middle age? What is aging in queer spaces? How can I live meaningfully in late stage capitalism?).

My Background and Approach

I have 25 years of experience in public health and mental health, including 12 years of HIV prevention and care work. I am a harm reductionist. From 2016-2021, I worked as an emergency room clinician in a psychiatric emergency room. My therapy practice is eclectic/integrative. I incorporate aspects of attachment theory, psychodynamic theory, solution focused counseling, cognitive behavioral therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy as clinically appropriate. I use Narrative Exposure Therapy to treat PTSD and trauma.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am a white, queer, genderqueer person from the east coast. I grew up outside of Boston in an Irish-Italian family and this informs who I am and how I operate. I am middle aged, able-bodied, and hearing. I speak English. I use she/her pronouns. I am committed to anti-racist work. I believe in approaches to healing that liberate us from systemic harm, and in care networks that center transformative change. I want to live in a world without police and prisons, and I am realistic about the work it takes to get there. I will support you to live a life that is aligned with your values and which helps you achieve your goals. Your wellness impacts the wellness of your social, political, professional, romantic, sexual, and family relationships. In this way, individual and small group (including families, couples, poly scenes and other groups) therapy supports broader change.
