About My Clients
One of the biggest life changes one can experience is the time around pregnancy, birth and postpartum. It time of growth and can be full of challenges as you learn to navigate parenthood and integrate your new reality with your past self. We were not meant to move through these changes alone and this transition is worthy of your time and attention, counseling can help you process this and learn to ride the waves of new parenthood.
My Background and Approach
My approach is collaborative and strengths-based. My goal is to help you navigate life's challenges. My theoretical background is in mindfulness based cognitive behavioral therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy. I have specialized training and experience working with perinatal mental health, meaning your well-being during pregnancy and postpartum, as well as miscarriage, infant loss and reproductive health. I am also a prenatal yoga teacher and childbirth educator. I am licensed by the State of Oregon as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), a designation given to social workers in clinical practice who have had over 3500 hours of work, have spent 2000 hours providing clinical services, and have demonstrated knowledge of clinical practices on a certifying exam.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I work through the lens of attachment theory and with a trauma informed work because what we know from current research on neuroscience is that we heal best through relationships. I was drawn to social work because I see how social and systemic issues impact personal experiences. I have a wide variety of professional experience from interning at OHSU in the Center for Women's Health, to working with survivors of domestic and sexual violence, to refugee resettlement. I believe in walking alongside people through challenging times to help them discover their inner resilience.
