EMDR helps us work through trauma, stress, and overwhelm in a way that brings the mind and body back into balance. It is different from typical talk therapy because it does not rely on retelling every detail of the past. Instead, it helps the brain process and make sense of what happened, so the memories feel less painful and overwhelming. Over time, EMDR can reduce the intensity of triggers, ease anxiety, and help us feel calmer, more present, and more confident in daily life.

Parts work helps us understand what is happening in our inner world with more clarity and compassion. It helps us notice the mix of feelings and reactions we carry, especially the ones that seem to pull us in opposite directions. Maybe one part of us people-pleases to keep the peace, while another part snaps when we feel unseen or unappreciated. By slowing down and getting to know these parts, we can understand what they are trying to do for us and find new ways to meet those needs.

Anxiety often shows up as racing thoughts, looping worst-case scenarios, people-pleasing, or a constant sense that the other shoe is about to drop. Throughout our work together, anxiety goes from feeling like a constant ambush to a signal you understand and can respond to. You don’t have to become a different person but you do get to feel more like yourself with a lot less noise.

Rather than seeing them as flaws or problems, IFS views them as responses that developed to help us cope, protect us, or meet important needs.
