About My Clients
While I mostly work with young adults, I am open to working with all who need help. Those struggling with self-esteem and identity. Anyone struggling with emotional regulation. Those who could use some help with boundary setting and communication. I am here to remind you that while things can be dark and stormy, you're not going through it alone.
My Background and Approach
I believe that while we are able to recognize emotions, we can struggle to manage and express them in an effective manner. My goal is to help you have as many effective skills and techniques that you can have in your toolbox at all times. I often implement Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. You are in charge of your treatment progress. You have more control than you think you do. By providing realistic coping skills to manage daily life stressors, and tools to build up your mind-body connection, we will work together to set the foundation for a future in which you no longer feel overwhelmed by your circumstances and the confidence to handle your problems to the best of your ability.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone is capable of change and worthy of help without judgement. I struggled with my own mental health during my youth and I hope to be the counselor I needed during my hardest times. I have a passion for providing compassionate, respectful, and nonjudgemental care. As a Black woman and member of the LGBTQIA+ Community, I especially want to make sure that I am a safe space for those who don't feel like they have one or identify as an unrepresented member of a marginalized community. Mental health is just as important as physical health and should be free of the stigma.
