About My Clients
Life can be difficult enough with a million little voices in your head telling you every negative thing about yourself. It can feel impossible to find moments of joy and contentment when life itself is already so unpredictable, and thoughts of fear and failure can start to creep in. Even though opening the door to therapy can be scary and/or overwhelming, I am here to bring warmth, compassion, and a touch of humor to make it more comfortable and relaxed.
My Background and Approach
There is no "one size fits all" with therapy. Every session is always personalized to my clients and what they are needing in that moment. If they want actionable strategies, we will work collaboratively and come up with ideas that can help and always know if they dont work that is not a failure on the clients part. It is simply getting more information of what works and what doesnt, and going back to the drawing board! If my client wants to vent and have a safe space to do so, I will bring that with open arms. Becoming a therapist has also led me to examine my own struggles and how to look at them from a different lens. It has led me to the conclusion that there really is no deficit or something wrong with me or with anyone. It is all apart of what makes you and I human. Of course we can make changes, but I like to also take a strengths approach with clients and make changes in the environment around them to help support who they truly are.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
The biggest commitment I have made as a therapist is to never assume I know the whole story. Every client is unique in their life experiences and every session is tailored to my clients specific needs. I openly admit that I will never understand some of the deep injustices that my clients face everyday. I look at every session as a way of broadening my understanding of the different perspectives that my clients bring to the table. I am here to listen to every person's story and meet them where they are at in this moment. I want the therapeutic space to include safety, openness, and the feeling of a warm, authentic, and original relationship. As a neurodiversity-affirming therapist, it is my goal to not only build a safe space for my clients to be truly heard without judgement, but to share with clients that they do not need to change themselves to fit in with the world. You can be your own self and live a happy and enriching life.
