About My Clients

I work with people who want change--who want more than empathy and validation from a therapist. They want to be confronted on whatever is holding them back. They want to know how to push through barriers and to act on those discoveries. They want not only insight but also accountability to overcome attachment wounds and heal their relationships. If we work together, we will collaboratively rewrite your story so that your past will become your ally rather than your excuse.

My Background and Approach

Our first therapy sessions with identify your goals for therapy and we will gather a thorough understanding of the problem at hand. Then, gradually or all-at-once, we will look deeply into your relationship history, the roles you have played in your life, your attachment style and all of the defense mechanisms that have brought you to where you are. Next, with that insight in hand, we will deconstruct and reconstruct the way you relate to yourself and your environment so that you can achieve your goals and find the confidence, self-assurance and connection that comes from healing and self-actualization. With a graduate degree in clinical social work and two years of post-graduate training in Marriage and Family Therapy, my approach built upon attachment theory and family systems therapy. I primary practice Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman Method, Solution Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe in your ability to heal, your ability to be present for your life and your ability to exist fully as your true authentic self. And, this belief requires fighting for equity. We cannot focus on healing when our basic needs are not met--or when we are surrounded by racism, sexism, ableism or classism. If our environment rejects us for how we identify, who we love or what we believe, our ability to embrace authenticity will be muted. And that is where we find balance between working internally with the self and externally with our relationships with people and with systems. If you work with me, you are welcome to ask about me--and I will answer you honestly--but I will not talk about myself unnecessarily. I view therapy as creating a space that is entirely about you and giving you the care, the insight and the tools you need to create your desired change.
