About My Clients
I work primarily with individuals and adolescents struggling with anxiety, self esteem, depression, LGBTQ+issues, highly sensitive people and empaths. I also work with couples and families as I believe that in order to best understand a client, I must also understand the family and system that they come from. I particularly love working with adolescents because I know first hand how tough those years can be.
My Background and Approach
I hold a Masters degree in Counseling and am beginning a Doctorate in Psychology. I have been practicing since 2014, and have worked as a therapist not only in Texas but in Canada and Malaysia as well. I work well with people of different cultures and religions, and consider myself to be a very open minded therapist. I particularly like to work with adolescents and self esteem issues because I struggled myself through those years and learned some tough lessons. I like to say I have a Masters in Counseling but a PhD in life experience. I have experience working with addiction, self harm, lgbtq+ issues, and always look at things from a family systems perspective. This means that in order to fully understand my client, I must look at the family patterns of communication, habits, coping methods, behaviour. Therapy with me means exploring the past in a significant way!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I consider myself to be very open minded and acceptant of all religions and cultures. I am a huge LGBTQ+ supporter. I also have a child with Type One Diabetes, so I understand families that battle chronic illnesses daily. I believe in the power of empathy and validation over all else, so although i do provide direction in my therapeutic approach, I think that connecting with a client and building trust is more important than anything else. People tend to heal and grow when they feel heard and understood.
