My clients are parents, birthing people, and adults who want to explore themselves and life so they may feel integrated and connected with themselves and their worlds.
My Background and Approach
I used to work as a birth and postpartum doula, childbirth educator, and perinatal massage therapist. Now as a counselor I help women, gender non conforming birthing people and adoptive parents process their roles, experiences, feelings, and choices. I come from a feminist, relational, and somatic orientation. Other influences include transpersonal psychology, and interpersonal neurobiology. My recent training in EMDR therapy has been a wonderful opportunity to help my clients as they work through trauma, anxiety, and depression management.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Mothers/ birthing parents and adoptive parents and caregivers need support during and around the reproductive and parenting years. I believe people bring their histories and mental health into their pregnancies. I believe the healthcare system sometimes fails women and new moms/ parents. I believe preconception, pregnancy, and postpartum are times which deserve emotional, physical, and spiritual preparation and support. I believe healthy attachment begins in pregnancy. I believe pregnant people have a right to know how to prepare in all the ways. I believe in holistic models of care. I believe with the right support that any hardship during this time can be met. I believe in the potential/ orientation towards health and wellbeing in every person. I believe that mental health support in the reproductive and early parenting years has far reaching benefits to our whole society. I believe that a well attached parent and child can influence peace on earth.
