About My Clients

Many of the people I work with have been othered in some way, for their sexuality, their relationship structure, their desires, or simply for who they are, and I want this to be a space where none of that needs to be hidden, explained, or defended. *I have worked with and have personal experience with neurodivergence, men's issues, and non-monogamy. *I work well with gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans and gender-expansive folks. I am very poly and kink positive and affirming.

My Background and Approach

I am a gay, neurodivergent, married, cis male in my 50’s. I’m a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (#156501) and Registered Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (#APCC20055), employed and supervised by Adina M. Ascher, PhD, LCSW (#28900).  *I have an MS in Counseling from Cal State East Bay, and a Master of Fine Arts from the California College of the Arts (MFA). *I am person centered, and depth psychology focused with CBT coping skills at the core. I like to dip into expressive arts therapy if and when the client is interested. Creativity is at the core of how I support clients. I believe everyone is inherently creative – and for many, creativity is not just a passion, but a vital way of processing experience, especially when it comes to trauma, identity, and complex emotions. Whether it’s through writing, visual art, music, movement, or simply speaking in metaphor, creative expression can allow things to surface that words alone might not reach.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe in the power of mindfulness and meditation, not just as a tool for managing attention, but as a source of guidance that arrives when you actually sit still with yourself. That practice, along with concepts like active imagination, archetypal psychology, and the western esoteric tree of life, forms the cornerstone of how I understand the work, a map for the tensions and balances that move through a life. These shape how I listen: for symbol, for pattern, for the parts of you that are trying to be witnessed rather than fixed. I believe each of us holds a rich, layered internal landscape, shaped by early experience, unconscious story, and deep emotional currents. Creativity is central to how we access it. Whether through verbal exploration, writing, art, music, or metaphor, creative expression can surface what words alone can't reach, especially when it comes to trauma and identity.
