About My Clients
I specialize in working with clients in their 20's and 30's dealing with issues in figuring out identity, calling with work, sense of purpose, dating, and other relationships. I believe this is a key season in life to work on going after each person's unique goals. I believe deeply that our past informs our present in repetitive ways, and grieving the pain we have been through leads to more opportunities opening up in the present. It's important to process our families of origin.
My Background and Approach
I studied at the Seattle School of Theology & Psychology and graduated with a Master's degree in counseling psychology. I am passionate about helping others find their voice, improve their relationships, and step into difficult areas of life that are often neglected in our fast-paced world. I provide a comfortable space to offer support in finding new ways of engaging old problems that often plague us in our human journey.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
There needs to be a class in middle-school or high-school that teaches mental health: learning how to respect themselves for who they are, what they bring to others, working with internal negative messages, and searching for direction and purpose in life. Instead, many teens grow up with internalized message that one's inherent value is dependent on output or production. A more hopeful approach would be that a person could accomplish great things, but with one's value in-place from the beginning and coming from within. Being dependent on the outcome to feel ok about ourselves leaves us depending on things to go our way to feel like we are in a good spot. Life often doesn't go that way. Why not help encourage healthy patterns early-on instead of waiting until unhealthy patterns take control and dominate a person's life? I believe we are all capable of change, and it often times involves looking at past pain and processing it.
